Wedding albums are a special way to commemorate one of the most important and life-changing days of adulthood. It is a day that is the first day of the rest of peoples lives, shared together with their soul mate, partner, love of their lives. For that reason wedding albums are a special way to commit those memories in a photobook.
As ever expanding technology continues growing, the ways that people make wedding albums continues to change, for the better. It means that there are continually new methods to commemorate the big day. As this happens it allows for greater personalization by harnessing technology and new methods.
The greatest separation of types of memory making materials is the difference between the wedding album and the photobook. The wedding album is simply photographs printed out and placed into an album. The photobook utilizes more technology and therefore can be more engaging, larger in scale, and less traditional. Many choose the photo book over the album just to make the most of what is offered in today’s marketplace.
As families and friends live farther away from one another these days, this is a great way to let far-off loved ones share in the memories. Photo book memories are often stored on the cloud, or on social media networking sites, on personalized web pages, etc. When printed out, the photo images may fill an entire piece of double-sized card stock, sent out as part of the thank you notes to guests even.
When people do make a physical book, it is going to differ from the more traditional album. For one, the album would be made up of glossy photo paper printouts that are typically bound in leather. It is the traditional method, and many couples still prefer this now retro look. Other couples embrace and run with all of the great opportunities that technology allow in their books.
The books are actually typically less reliant upon leather binding, despite the term “book” in its name. They are more likely to be bound in faux leather, or leather scraps from traditional binding even. Typically the book will have a soft cover which is printed on paper, and simply staple bound. It is more of a booklet, if anything, and may make a great way to commemorate the big day say when re-doing vows in 10 years. The same can be written about photo cover, which is also glued on regular paper, and contains a glued or sewn binding. It probably will not last very long, and is not considered the ideal for a life-long or generations-long lasting album.
Look for a lifelong product that will last at least as long as the marriage. Leather bound with lay flat pages is the best option for a hard-bound album. Books are great, but more so for a commemorative experience, such as a one-time anniversary gift or a renewal of vows. Lay flat pages make sure that the pages do not have to crease to sit flat.
